چکیده

Spectral remote sensing reflectance in the visible (Rrs(λ), sr) was derived from ENVISAT MERIS data over the East China Seas, and compared with those determined from concurrent in situ measurements between 2003 and 2007. The results showed that both the FUB plug-in module and the standard MERIS Level-2 data generally overestimated Rrs(λ), particularly in the blue, while FUB plug-in shows a significant improvement in accuracy compared to the standard MERIS L2 data. The MERIS and in situ Rrs(λ) were respectively used as input to a quasi-analytical algorithm to derive absorption coefficients of the various water constituents (phytoplankton, colored organic matter and detritus), and compared with those determined in situ. There was slight improvement in the FUB-derived absorption as compared with that from the MERIS L2 data. The derived absorption from in situ Rrs(λ) were apparently improved compared with those derived from MERIS Rrs(λ). The Rrs(λ)-based algorithm for the retrieval of diffuse attenuation coefficient, K490 (m), was adjusted to include a term Rrs(670), which showed the better results.

Comparison of Ocean Color Data Products from Meris , Modis , and Seawifs : Preliminary Results for the East China Seas

Concurrent Level-3 data products from MERIS, MODIS, and SeaWiFS between June 2003 and June 2006 for the East China Seas were compared against each other to evaluate the consistency between the sensors. The atmospheres in these regions is generally turbid, with typical aerosol optical thickness at 865 nm (tau_865) around 0.16, therefore presents a challenge to atmospheric correction. The statist...

China’s Maritime Interest and the Great Game at Seas

Linking China’s interest in the maritime waters arises from the geo-strategic importance of Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs) vital to the oil supply of the country. China is building strategic relationships and developing a naval capability to establish a forward presence along the SLOCs that connect China to the Middle East and to Africa. The entire stretch includes South China Sea, Indian ...

A Novel Bio-based Sulfonic Zwitterionic Surfactant Derived from Transgenic Soybean Oil and its Performance in Surface and Interfacial Activities

Bio-based surfactants have attracted increasing attention due to their renewable resources and excellent surface properties. In this study, a novel bio-based sulfonic zwitterionic surfactant (BSZS) derived from transgenic soybean oil was prepared using a simple reaction route with two steps of the amidation and quaterisation. The bio-based sulfonic zwitterionic surfactant showed a critical mice...

Detection of Red Tides Using the Red Shifts from Meris 681 Nm Peak to 709 Nm Peak: a Case Study in the East China Sea

Detection of red tides (harmful algal blooms or HABs) from space has been problematic in optically complex waters, mainly due to interference from non-pigment constituents to the satellite signal. Using in situ and MERIS (Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) measurements, the spectral characteristics of red tide and non-red tide waters were studied in the East China Sea coastal area. Two sur...

Performance of Air Foam Flooding under Low Frequency Vibration

Foam injection is widely applied in amounts of fields to drilling, production, and formation protection. Sometimes, the application result is disappointing, which is caused by the failure of bubble generation in foam flooding. Therefore, it is necessary to seek ways for improving the performance of foam injection. An increased disturbance to the stratum, like the vibration caused by a seismic o...
